Angelica Bridges Interview - November 2007

Angelica Bridges is an American actress, model and singer. Angelica, who hails from a small town in Missouri is perhaps best known for her strikingly natural red hair, exotic looks and her role as "Taylor Walsh" on the internationally popular television series, "Baywatch".
She was discovered singing at Universal Studios in Orlando by modeling giant John Casablancas. She signed with Elite and began starring in several highly recognizable commercial and print campaigns in the US, Europe and Japan. She is the brainchild behind her all-girls modern pop/dance style group called "Strawberry Blonde".

The Models Observer-Mark Twain is quoted to have said: "While the rest of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats". Angelica, can you solve the mystery - what do redheads have that the rest of us don't? 

Angelica Bridges-I know that redheads are fiery! We also have a pretty good temper. We are also 4 percent of the population which makes us very rare indeed!

MO- Do you believe in fate?                  AB-Absolutely. I also believe in love at first sight.       MO-What was it like to grow up in Harrisonville, Missouri? How did you become interested in the entertainment world?

AB-Growing up in a small town was incredible. I grew up on a ranch with horses and we lived way out in the country. We lived so far out that my dad had a gas pump put in by our barn so that when we needed to fill up the truck with gas we had it right there at our house. I think growing up in a small town gives you a good foundation, strong family values and a down to earth quality.

 

MO-How did you recognize talents and choose the members of your pop group Strawberry Blonde?

AB-We auditioned probably around 1000 girls. We asked that the girls be beautiful, sexy, amazing dancers and singers. We had a lot of talented girls audition. They had to come in and sing a song acapella and learn choreography for a dance routine. But it really is hard to find girls that sing, dance and look fabulous. It's a triple-threat sort of combination!

 

MO-What is Strawberry Blonde greatest accomplishment?

AB-I think getting to perform in Las Vegas was pretty amazing! It was most definetly a dream come true. It was an honor.

 

MO-Sometimes, group memebers go to separate ways to focus on their solo careers. The Spice Girls are good example for this. How do you keep your group continually moving forward?

AB-I just like to continue working on new music and getting inspired with new sounds. When you keep busy in the studio and making music it keeps everyone happy.

 

MO-Which directions do you think Strawberry Blonde will take in the future?

AB-I would love to see the group go international especially to Europe. I think we would be welcomed there.

 

MO-How has your music changed since "Brooke Sisters" days?

AB-Oh my! I had to sing a lot of country music in that group! So that is a big difference from what I am doing now and being able to write and sing my own music.

 

MO-What or who influences your creativity both in terms of spirit and of subject matter?

AB-I love Madonna - I think she is truly a pioneer. I also enjoy Kylie Minogue and Beyonce

 

MO-You've finished a supporting lead role in the UK psychological thriller "The Perfect Woman" in the role of "Sammi". The film was shot on the historical grounds of the Thornbury Castle outside of London, England. Which differences do you find between acting in horror movies to acting in comedies? Do you find some roles relatively more challenging for you to fill?

AB-This was the first horror movie I have ever done so it was a first! I didn't really notice too much of a difference- just that the set was a bit more gory than a regular movie set . You just have to tell yourself this is only a movie…this is not real!

 

MO-For a long time you are regarded as one of the 100 sexiest women in the world. Do you work hard on your sexy image? What has created this image?

AB-I think being on a show such as Baywatch put me in that kind of category because face it - if I were playing a role on a show like “Little House on the prairie" I am sure I would not be in the top 100 sexiest! It was a show that just draws that kind of celebrity and attention.

 

MO-What is your fondest memory as Baywatch star Taylor Walsh?

 AB-Working with David Hasselhoff and the rest of the cast. Everyone was amazing and getting to work on a sunny beach everyday sometimes did not feel like work.

 

MO-What is a week and a day in the life of Angelica Bridges?

AB-Getting up and going to the gym first thing. It really sets the tone for my day. I love being physically active and working out. Its truly an endorphin charger! If it were my day off I would go to the spa and get a body scrub then a shiatsu massage. That would be a blissful day for sure!

 

MO-How do you like to spend your free time?

AB-I enjoy working out, traveling, shopping, reading a good book, girls nights out, going to the spa, spending time with animals (I have an English bulldog and a cat).

 

MO-Would you encourage your children to pursue a career in singing or acting?

AB-Only if they really wanted to and were persistent of it. I would never force anything on them. It would have to be their choice entirely.

 

MO-What is your dream?

 AB-To continue to live a happy, peaceful and successful life! I want to continue singing and making great music. I want to have an empire of cosmetics, perfume, lingerie and skincare lines. I would also like to have my own cooking show ( I am a gourmet cook as well) and be able to do things for animals and less fortunate people using my resources to help them in any way I can. Most importantly to always have passion in my life.
